Virtual reality entertainment for a mind boggling experience
Gaming has come a long way since the introduction of the ‘Tennis for Two’ video Game, thought to be The First Video Game ever made. Developed in 1958, it was made for two players, with each playing on two separate controllers. This 2D project has paved the way for a multi-billion dollar gaming industry that currently employs thousands of people striving to excel in creating mind boggling graphics and entertainment.
Now, 3D is looming large over 2D, making gaming more fun and challenging than it ever was. But if you thought that was the ultimate experience, you’re wrong. 3D virtual reality games are currently the ‘in thing’ with companies battling it out to provide the best in gaming.
For those who may be a bit confused, virtual reality is a computer stimulated world that gives subjects a feel of the physical world with the use of high tech headsets or 3D enabled screens and sensory information like sound.
Virtual reality entertainment, meanwhile, gives subjects the chance to experience life-like situations on their entertainment media like televisions. While 2D may still rule the roost due to low cost in production, we now have televisions and theaters capable of projecting 3D movies and animation. As it gains ground, we may soon discard 2D altogether as the experience of watching something and feeling like you’re part of it is unparalleled.
Virtual reality games may appeal to people who aren’t hard core gamers as the experience is so different from ordinary gaming. This will no doubt compel companies to work hard and fast to develop such games as there is a lot of money in it. Virtual reality entertainment will also gain ground, if this is the case, paving the way for more job opportunities and giving tech savvy people a chance to let out their creative side.
